Jack Bean is growing!
Jack Bean is ready for its next growth step. After a successful crowdfunding campaign we secured additional growth funding this week. In total, Jack Bean has raised 1 million euros in growth financing. This money enables us to expand to Amsterdam and prepare for national upscaling.
The investment comes from impact investors DOEN Participaties and ifund Foundation. In addition, a number of informals and 170 crowdfunders have stepped in. This financing enables us to open a first location in Amsterdam and to prepare our organization for further growth to locations throughout the Netherlands. The ambition is to be able to provide all residents of major cities in the Netherlands with a delicious, sustainable and nutritious meal within 30 minutes.
More local and plant-based food consumption
Our food system is responsible for one third of global greenhouse gas emissions. By eating more plant-based and locally sourced food, consumers themselves can make a major contribution to combating climate change. Jack Bean helps by making a more sustainable diet easy and attractive. Contributing to a sustainable and healthy planet is a lot more fun for consumers if this is combined with convenience and enjoyment. Jack Bean wants to be the trusted partner for consumers in their journey to a sustainable diet.
With the new investment, we plan to open a new restaurant, this time in Amsterdam. In addition, investments will be made in expanding the management team, targeted marketing and strengthening the company's back-end. By the end of 2022, we are aiming for a Series A round, which should allow us to grow to at least 10 locations in 5 cities before the end of 2024.

Jack Bean was founded in Rotterdam in 2018 by social entrepreneur Mathijs Huis in ’t Veld en sustainable chef and restaurant entrepreneur Pepijn Schmeink. The company serves locally sourced and 100% plant-based food in busy city spots, and is a pioneer in the transition to a healthier and more sustainable diet. Jack Bean uses a chain approach in which sustainability extends beyond just the vegetable proteins on the plate. The company is also fully committed to ingredients from regenerative farmers and the company aims to drastically reduce disposable packaging.
